Oh, that [men] would give thanks to the LORD [for] His goodness, And [for] His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness. Psalms 107:8-9 (NKJV)
The Lord gives, He gives what’s good, and He gives the good that satisfies.
Goodness and satisfaction are distinguishing marks of what God gives. If it’s not good and if it doesn’t satisfy then it didn’t come from God.
Taking away from us things we vitally need to live is not good and does not satisfy. Therefore the statement that God gives and takes away is a wrong description of God and what He does. It was spoken in ignorance and under distress by a man overwhelmed by afflictions.
God always gives to the full, He gives to overflow. Jesus the Good Shepherd came that we may have life and have it more abundantly – till it overflows. See- John 10:10
He’s El Shaddai – the Almighty, the all-sufficient one, the more than enough, the one who satisfies.
There are those who sing about mercy drops surrounding them but the Lord’s mercies are so abundant that they are new every morning. The Lord satisfies us with favor.
Deuteronomy 33:23 (AMPC) And of Naphtali he said: “O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, And full of the blessing of the LORD, Possess the west and the south.”
Naphtali means wrestling. Are you wrestling to make it in life? Are you hustling for a living? Are you struggling in any area?
There’s no wrestling, hustling or struggling that can ever satisfy in anyway.
It’s the Lord who satisfies us with His favor or preferential treatment upon our lives. His favor attracts every good and beneficial thing that brings satisfaction.
He satisfies us in the midst of lack. Psalms 37:19 (NKJV) They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
He satisfies not only our necessities but also our desires. Psalms 103:5 (AMPC) Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring]!
He satisfies not only our needs but also our wants. He is the Lord my Shepherd I shall not want. That’s satisfaction.
What use and what good is having everything you need and desire but then never living healthy and long enough to enjoy it? Thank God He gives and satisfies us with long life so we can fully enjoy all the good stuff.
Psalms 91:16 (AMPC) With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.
