You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:36 (NIV)
Life runs on the principle of seed time and harvest. Everything begins with seed then there’s time from sowing the seed till when it grows up to maturity then the harvest.
The sowing doesn’t take long and is easy. The harvest usually doesn’t differ much. The longest and hardest part is the time of waiting for the harvest.
This is the when God when moment of trial. There are two reasons why we find this season of waiting for the harvest hard. Number one it seems or we see or feel like nothing is happening.
The good news is something is actually happening and interestingly it’s happening very fast! When you put seed in the soil it dies only to rise to life again though you don’t see it. When we pray to God He hears and answers right away. In the book of Daniel when the Angel from God came to Daniel after he had prayed and fasted twenty-one days, the Angel told Daniel that the very first day Daniel prepared himself to pray God heard him and sent the answer. Daniel 9:21-23.
To understand and flow with this it takes faith which is the conviction of things we do not see. Hebrews 11:1, 3. Life doesn’t run on things seen but on the things that are not seen. The very air we breathe we can’t see. The way we are formed and grow in our mothers’ wombs is hidden from our sight.
When we relax assured in the knowledge that something is happening though we do not see, feel, taste, hear, smell or reason it out, then we can patiently wait for the harvest. We can be at rest while we wait for the answer, change, miracle, breakthrough or whatever we desire to be happen.
Number two there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it; we can’t alter or speed up the process. Fortunately, there’s absolutely nothing required that we do to effect the process leading to the harvest.
In the parable of the growing seed Jesus likens the kingdom of God to a farmer putting seed in the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. Mark 4:27 (NIV). Whether he sleeps or is awake something is happening! It’s pointless to be nervously frantic about when the answer or change will come. Relax, chill, something is going on behind the scenes and – As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.” Mark 4:29. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9 (NLT)
