For you were going astray like [so many] sheep, but now you have come back to the Shepherd and Guardian (the Bishop) of your souls. 1 Peter 2:25(AMPC)
A shepherd not only feeds the sheep but also guards them.
Jesus the Good Shepherd is responsible for your entire wellbeing. He’s the Guardian of your soul.
Your mind, emotions, and will, make up your soul.
The battle of your life, the battle for your life is almost entirely waged in that part of you called the soul.
It’s in your soul or mind that you think right or wrong and consequently from there your life turns out right or wrong accordingly. Thoughts of peace in your mind produce and lead to a peaceful life while troubled thoughts brew up and churn out a troubled existence.
When there’s gladness in your soul it lights and fills up your entire being including your body with lightness, life, and strength. But when the dark clouds of sadness engulf your soul it weakens and sickens you.
Jesus as Guardian of your soul protects your mind against the evil schemes of the enemy that are thrown into your mind as thoughts, ideas, and imaginations which if not rejected or countered, or resisted can build up into strongholds which include opinions, attitudes, and beliefs from which the enemy wreaks havoc and destroys people’s lives.
The Lord Jesus Christ restores, renews, and refreshes our soul. Psalm 23:3.
Through His Word and Spirit He fills our mind with thoughts, ideas, and imaginations of life and peace.
He says I know the thoughts I have for you and they are thoughts of Shalom Peace. See- Jeremiah 29:11. Shalom means total wholeness, nothing broken, or lacking.
The Guardian of our souls guards and keeps our mind by filling it with thoughts of Himself. Isaiah 26:3 (AMPC) You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.
Set your mind on the Lord, let thoughts of who He is flood your soul. Meditate on His love, goodness, power, kindness, mercy, faithfulness and grace. As you do that, your mind, your soul is guarded and kept safe and free from fear, anxiety, and confusion.
