no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 54:17 (NIV)
You don’t need to fight so hard in your own strength to prove you are right or innocent. That’s the Lord’s job. The Lord is our vindicator. He’s our justifier.
Vindication is our heritage from the Lord. We don’t have to struggle for it in our own strength and wisdom.
How does the Lord vindicate us? The head Scripture of our theme has shown us that:
“No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong”. This is our vindication from the Lord. This is how He fights, defends, and proves our just cause.
The Lord vindicates us by granting us peace, righteousness, security and triumph over opposition, accusation and condemnation. So we let the Lord vindicate us by allowing Him to fight, defend, prove and uphold our just cause.
God has already vindicated us in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Vindication is justification or righteousness. God has already justified or made us righteous in Christ Jesus through His death and resurrection from the dead.
Romans 4:25 (NIV) He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
Therefore our true vindication is not even trying to prove we’ve lived or acted right but rather that Jesus died for everything we did wrong and He was raised when and because we were made right in Him.
Certainly we want and aspire to live right but our true ‘rightness’ before God is entirely because of Jesus and what He has accomplished for us on the Cross.
Whether you’ve walked in all integrity, you haven’t done anything wrong and yet you’re being falsely accused and maligned, whether you’ve missed it or messed up big time and they’re after your neck, trust in the Lord to vindicate you. Look to, refer to, and depend on Jesus Christ who died for all your sins and rose for your justification or vindication. It’s only through Him that God the Righteous Judge of all sets everything and everyone right.
