When Adam sinned, one of the first immediate symptoms of the death that followed was fear. Adam fled from God because of fear.
Genesis 3:8-10 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so, I hid.” Fear drives a man away from God, and from good. God is love. 1John 4:8,16. Love never runs away so God has always come after man in his unconditional love. When we know and are fully persuaded of God’s unconditional, faithful love for us that’s the end of fear.
Love gives us assurance that we are not alone on our own but rather that we belong, we are valued. Therefore, we are protected, secure and safe.
God’s love for us means He will never leave us nor forsake us. How can we then fear? God’s love for us says He is for us, who can be against us? There can’t be fear here.
– There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. – 1John 4:18(NIV)
