Through skillful and godly Wisdom is a house (a life, a home, a family) built, and by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation]. Proverbs 24:3 (AMPC)
A good or strong foundation is to a building what strong roots are to a tree. It’s all the difference between a building or tree that will withstand to the last amidst all levels of buffeting and one that will fall right from the onset of the least assault.
Everything must have a foundation. Even God’s throne (His place and position of dominion, authority and power) has a foundation. Psalms 89:14 (NLT) Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Unfailing love and truth walk before you as attendants.
Whether life, family, home, business, or career, anything that is built must be established on a good firm foundation in order to stand and last. The last part of our theme Scripture says that it is by understanding that what we build is established on a sound and good foundation. Proverbs 24:3b (AMPC)
A good foundation is a result of understanding. If you don’t have a working understanding of what you are doing you’ve already laid a bad and weak foundation.
Understanding is the ability to tell the difference between what’s good and bad, what’s right and wrong, what’s working and not working. 1 Kings 3:9 (NLT) Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?” King Solomon prayed this prayer to God and thus started his kingdom and reign on a good foundation.
A solid foundation for a successful and long lasting life, relationship, business or ministry comes from a clear comprehensive understanding of how it works and how it’s run. Whatever you desire or are set on undertaking first get the right understanding of how it functions. When you can tell what’s good, right, or working for any task, pursuit, structure or project you’ve already started right in laying a good foundation.
