Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing [I do,] forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14 (NKJV)
The Christian walk doesn’t involve spectators neither does God’s army have secret agents. Whereas God through Christ has provided us with everything that pertains to life and godliness (2 Peter1:3), it does not mean we ought to sit by and passively wait to see this God kind of life in us manifest in our daily walk. There’s a call for enthusiastic active participation in God’s work here on earth.
The very fact that you are alive means that God is not done with you. Your assignment is still running. Nevertheless, in the process of fulfilling your assignment you will encounter opposition. The world will create pressure against us try to prevent us from realizing outwardly what’s already a reality inwardly. Jesus said that in this world we will have trouble, but we should be of good cheer because He overcame the world.
This calls for pressing in, not giving up, keep doing good even when we don’t see immediate results, keep being faithful to your personal walk with God, church, family and work. If we keep on keeping on we shall reap if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9)
Going forward, pressing in means we refuse to remain sluggish, disinterested, or lazy but instead through faith and patience inherit, obtain, and experience what was promised
Salvation, health, spiritual growth, fulfilled relationships, realized dreams, visions or pursuits are all God’s promises to us freely given us as gifts by Abba Father God through His Son Jesus Christ. They already belong to us but we walk in the fulfilment of them by aggressively pressing into them through knowledge of them, acceptance of them, embracing them in the Word of God.
Whatever dream, promise or goal you are believing God for, as long as it is in His will, it will come to pass if you hold on and keep believing for it.
For a dream comes with much business and painful effort, and a fool’s voice with many words. Ecclesiastes 5:3 (AMPC)
