For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!], 2 Corinthians 4:17 (AMPC)
Our God is El Shaddai meaning the God who is more than enough. Everything about him is more than enough. His love, faith, life, peace, joy, wisdom, power, blessings, goodness is more than enough. He has called us to himself to a life, a relationship, and walk of more than enough.
Therefore His dealings with us and his leadings are for purposes beyond what we may be seeing, thinking, or experiencing. In our journey with God there’s more than what meets the eye. In other words there must be more than this. One time Jesus appointed and sent seventy of his disciples to go ahead of him to the places where he was about to go. He commanded them to heal the sick, to proclaim that the kingdom of God had come near. Luke 10:1-9.
Later they came back joyful and told him “Lord even the demons are subject to us in your name” Luke10:17. But he corrected them saying the cause for their rejoicing shouldn’t be because spirits are subject to them but rather that their names are written in heaven. He meant their relationship and fellowship with God was far more important than the things they did. He was letting them know that there’s more than this which they were currently seeing and experiencing. There’s more than what we are going through right now whether good or bad. Firstly there’s a behind the scenes reality in every circumstance. When Jesus was being beaten, shedding blood, behind the scenes God was putting away our sins and taking away our diseases. There was something more than the beating and pain – that’s our forgiveness and healing. When he died, those who were there saw only that – he’s dead he’s gone. But there was more than that, the resurrection, our salvation, redemption, and the new life stood sure on the other side. There’s more than what you’re facing. The present temporary challenges are working for your lasting championship.
Then also there’s so much more than the things you’re experiencing and enjoying. Your relationship and fellowship with God has more benefits beyond and greater than getting your basic daily needs provided for. There’s the fulfilment of sharing in the very life, love, peace, rest, of God starting in the here and now and continuing into eternity!
