I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the LORD. Psalms 118:17 (NKJV)
Though no human being is going to live forever while still in this human body in the mortal state it is in now, it is God’s will for us not to die but live. God tells us to choose life, that both us and our descendants may live – Deuteronomy 30:19 The reason why Jesus died and rose conquering death was so that we could look forward to living forever in glorified immortal bodies when He comes back – 1Corinthians 15:51-54 In the meantime, we can, by the Holy Spirit who lives in us live from resurrection power – Romans 8:11. Under the old covenant of the law life expectancy was at least 70 or 80 years – Psalms 90:10. Yet even there Moses the giver of the law lived to 120, Joshua lived to 110. We are under the new and better covenant with better promises. Hebrews 8:6.We can live long, fruitful, and fulfilled lives.Refuse to die young and discontented. Refuse to exit before you have accomplished God’s will for your life on earth. We live and not die so we may tell the works of the Lord and a part of the works of the Lord is this – with long life He satisfies us. Psalm 91:16.
