The [consistently] righteous man is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked causes others to go astray. Proverbs 12:26 (AMPC)
According to your lifestyle you can be a guide to those close by watching you or you can lead them astray. But we have been called to be an example in word, conduct, love, spirit, faith, and purity – 1Timothy 4:12. Therefore we do not live for ourselves, seeking our own but also for the sake of others around us, putting their welfare at the forefront. As a Christian parent or guardian don’t live for yourself but also for the sake of the children watching you, following in your footsteps. As a church leader don’t live for yourself but also for the sake of the congregation under your care who are watching you, learning from you. As a Christian boss, manager, or supervisor at the work place don’t live for yourself but also for the sake of your subordinates who are watching you, imitating you. As child of light let the world see the light of life in you and follow.
