It is better to have faith in the Lord than to put one’s hope in man. It is better to have faith in the Lord than to put one’s hope in rulers. Psalms 118:8-9 (BBE)
It’s not that we don’t need people to help us or that people can’t help us. It’s about recognizing the source of the help. Having faith in God instead of hoping in man is all about recognizing that God is the source of all that we need. Men are only vessels, instruments, or conduits but God is the one working and supplying – Philippians 2:13.When our expectations are fixed on God we have plugged into the true source of power. Then we won’t be disappointed. But if we confuse people who are channels to be the reservoir then we will be disappointed when they fail to deliver and meet our expectations. Yes, God works through people but we are not to look to them or depend on them like they are our lifeline. Imagine the cable that charges your device like a phone or computer. That cable is useful and needed but it cannot by itself charge your device if it’s not plugged into the power socket. People are like that cable, only helpful when they are plugged into God. Talk to God first and let Him talk to people where it’s necessary for them to be involved and help out in your case. Keep plugged into God. Expect from Him, talk to Him, more than you do people.
