Wealth protects the rich; poverty destroys the poor. Proverbs 10:15 (GNT)
A very dangerous and destructive lie of false religion is that poverty is humility, that it’s spiritual, and godly. This lie is a misquoting and twisting of Jesus’ statement that “blessed are the poor in spirit” Matthew 5:3. The poor don’t stay poor forever because Jesus finishes that line with “for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”. When the kingdom of heaven or of God is yours, you go from poor to wealthy. Because God is wealthy, He created and owns everything good, useful and beneficial. Wealth is abundance and overflow of everything good, useful, and beneficial. Godliness, wisdom, peace, life, health, blessing, relationships, material possessions, and success, are all wealth that protects. Poverty is absence of what’s good, useful, and beneficial. Sin, oppression, ignorance, sickness, fear, worry, lack are all poverty that destroys. Reject and resist poverty in all it’s forms. Embrace and identify with God who is wealthy, who is the source and giver of all wealth.
