The number one area we most frequently get into trouble is in our talk. Normally it takes a few words to communicate and get the point home. Jesus says going beyond that is of evil – Matthew 5:37. When we are careful about what we say we are able to control our life – James 3:2 Therefore it’s wise and safe to talk less. Contrary to most people’s beliefs, we are more likely to be heard and understood with less words than with more. The more unnecessarily we talk the more we bring confusion, contradiction and conflict. Even in prayer to God, we are admonished not to use a lot of meaningless words thinking that’s when we will be heard – Matthew 6:7-8 Let your talk be of value and redemptive – Proverbs 10:20 A good person’s words are like pure silver Let your talk benefit others – Proverbs 10:21 A good person’s words will benefit many people.
