Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs. Proverbs 10:12 (NIV)
All wrongs, suffering, and pain come from self-centeredness and self preservation. We offend and wrong others because we are focused on ourselves and protecting our interests. The God kind of love doesn’t focus inwardly but outwardly on others. Love doesn’t seek its own rights but seeks to make right what has gone wrong. When we sinned, God didn’t focus on how we had wronged Him, He focused on getting us out of our mess, restoring us, and making us right with Him. Love pays no attention to a suffered wrong, instead it lets go of offence, it forgives and forgets. Love doesn’t just act like nothing happened; it gets into the mess, takes the hurt and pain and heals it. This is God’s love for us. This is God’s love in us. We can let it work in and through us to cure all the wrongs done to us and those we have done to others.
