For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)
Faith is to your spirit what reasoning is to your mind and what sight is to your body.
Reasoning is good and useful to your mind. Sight is good and useful to your body.
But when it comes to our spirit, then faith is the way to go.
In our walk with God it’s not our mind or body that should lead but our spirit. We are in the spirit and we walk in the spirit. This means we are to be dominated, make decisions, and conduct the affairs of our life based on the knowledge in our spirits. The reasonings in our minds and what we physically see or feel shouldn’t dictate our course of action in any situation.
For instance in your spirit you can get a prompting to stop doing what you have been doing or were about to do whereas your mind reasons that based on the favorable, supportive circumstances you should continue doing what you’re doing. Obey and follow what you have in your spirit because eventually it shall turn out that your spirit was right and your mind misled and wrong when you see the outcome.
One time Paul got a prompting in his spirit that the voyage he and the people with him were about to embark on was going to be disastrous with much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also their lives. But the ones who were in charge of the ship looked at and trusted the weather which looked favorable for sailing so reasoning in their minds that it was safe to set sail they disregarded Paul’s warning and continued on their voyage. But no sooner had they started than the weather changed and it all turned out exactly as Paul had got the signal in his spirit. Acts 27:10-44.
Walk by faith, walk by the promptings or signals in your spirit.
Let the reasonings of your mind and what you physically see or feel give way to what’s in your spirit.
That’s what it means to walk not by sight but by Faith.
