Honoring God isn’t so much about doing something for Him. Actually, it is more of letting God do something for us as well as recognizing what God has done for us. This is borne out of knowing and trusting His love. When we know and trust God’s love, we trust Him to do good to us – helping us, sustaining us. When God does good to us, we respond with appreciation, awe, celebration and praise. This is real heartfelt honor to Him. Even when it comes to obedience and serving God, it gives Him the greatest honor when we do it from the understanding of and gratefulness to His love for us. For instance, when we are told to honor the Lord with our substance and increase (Proverbs 3:9) we are being challenged to demonstrate our trust in His love. To show that we recognize Him as our loving bountiful source. Trust in God’s love for you and your life and walk will honor Him.
