You crown the year with Your bounty and goodness, and the tracks of Your [chariot wheels] drip with fatness. Psalms 65:11 (AMPC)
The crowning referred to here is not like putting a crown on a head but it’s to surround with. The Lord surrounds the year with His abundance and goodness. This means that from the beginning of the year to the end the Lord continually showers us with His abundance and goodness.
There’s no month in the year, no week in the month, no day in the week, no hour in the day, no minute in the hour and no second in the minute where God’s abundance and goodness are not flowing to us. Even when we can’t seem to see it God is good all the time. He is unconditionally, faithfully good to us all the time.
He is everlastingly a good God intent on and intentionally out to drown us in His goodness.
The goodness of God like the sun may at certain times and seasons seem not to be shining on us but that’s not the truth. Even at the darkest of a heavy rainstorm or midnight the sun is still faithfully shining bright, strong, and clear. We only get overshadowed or blocked out from the sun’s light heat and energy by a temporary and fleeting interference.
It’s interesting to note that it’s at those moments when things looked hardest for Joseph that the Word of God say’s “the Lord was with Joseph” In Genesis 39:1 – Joseph is bought as a slave then immediately the next verse says “the Lord was with Joseph”.
In Genesis 39:20 Joseph is thrown into prison after being falsely accused then immediately the next verse says” the Lord was with Joseph”
In spite of what was happening in Joseph’s life from the circumstantial point of view, the Lord was with Joseph and therefore His goodness was present in Joseph’s life and because of that the man ended up very successful and a powerful ruler of his generation. God crowned the year of Joseph’s life journey with His goodness.
The Lord has surrounded your going, your life, everything that concerns you with His goodness. You can confidently declare together with the Psalmist that – Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. Psalms 23:6 (NKJV)
No matter how you started, no matter what’s happening now, everything is going to turn out for your good. Whether it’s some mistake you made, whether it’s a wrong done to you by some people, whether it’s the plot of the wicked one, it shall surely all shape up into that which is good for you.
This shall be your testimony – But as for you, you meant evil against me; [but] God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as [it is] this day, to save many people alive. Genesis 50:20 (NKJV)
