A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of wicked devices He condemns. Proverbs 12:2 (AMPC)
Statements like; a good man obtains favor from the Lord, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord – Psalms 37:23 usually evoke either one of two reactions; first, the sense of being disqualified for we feel we are not good; second, the sense of a partial qualification basing on some good things we’ve done though deep inside we know we don’t fully qualify because we lack in so many areas. Who is the good man? There’s none good or righteous – Romans 3:10. None is good except God – Mark 10:18. But a good and righteous God makes people good and righteous. A good man is the one whom God has made right through Salvation in Jesus Christ. Romans 3:22-24. A good man is one with a good heart which has been transformed through believing in what Jesus has accomplished in His suffering, death and resurrection – Romans10:9,10 Then out of the good treasure of his transformed good heart, this good man brings forth good things. Matthew 12:35. He lives out the good, godly, righteous life from what’s already inside him, even what’s put there by God. He loves, gives, forgives, is kind and generous from the good heart that Jesus gave him. This is the good man or woman who obtains favor from the Lord.
