“While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer,
And day and night Shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22(NKJV)
Where there’s life there’s growth, increase, and advancement. Where these things are there certainly has to be change.
Because of change seasons happen and because of seasons change happens.
We can’t remain the same where change is happening; we have to adjust to correctly conform to it.
The purpose of seasons is:
Firstly to help us interpret the times.
Luke 12:54-56 (MSG) Then he turned to the crowd: “When you see clouds coming in from the west, you say, ‘Storm’s coming’–and you’re right. Frauds! You know how to tell a change in the weather, so don’t tell me you can’t tell a change in the season, the God-season we’re in right now.
When we can rightly tell the times then we can tell what is needed to be done at any given moment. This brings us to the next reason for seasons:
Secondly seasons help us to know what to do when:
Psalms 104:19-23 (AMPC) 19[The Lord] appointed the moon for the seasons; the sun knows [the exact time of] its setting. 20You [O Lord] make darkness and it becomes night, in which creeps forth every wild beast of the forest. 21The young lions roar after their prey and seek their food from God. 22When the sun arises, they withdraw themselves and lie down in their dens. 23Man goes forth to his work and remains at his task until evening.
All creation knows what to do and when. Even the sun knows when to rise and to set. The wild animals also know that night is the best and most convenient time to seek their prey. Then day time is the best and most suited for man to go about his business.
When everyone and everything is doing what they should do when they ought to do it that’s operating in wisdom. This leads us to our last reason for seasons:
Thirdly seasons make us wise:
Proverbs 30:24-25 (NIV) “Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise: Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer.
Because seasons have a consistent pattern they teach us to always prepare and make appropriate plans. This leads us to live wisely.
The farmer doesn’t plant in the scorching heat of drought neither does he prepare to harvest right in the middle of rainy season.
Always understand the times you are living in, then you will know what to do when, and you will live and walk wisely in life.
