Confess [your] trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16 (NKJV)
We want to focus on the word “effective” here because that’s what we all are after in prayer. We all desire that our prayers are effective, that they produce desired results. What makes an effective prayer, that when you pray you get the desired result? It’s right in that statement of Scripture. “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”.
Prayer is effective when it’s prayed by a righteous man or woman or girl or boy. Who is the righteous man? The one in right standing with God. This is the one who has received God’s free gift of Righteousness through Faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9,10; 2 Corinthians 5:21.
Know, be fully persuaded and established in the truth that Christ is your Righteousness that you’re righteous in Him and what He has already done for you in His death and resurrection and you will effortlessly pray powerful, effective, result producing prayers.
