Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith. 1 Timothy 1:18-19 (NIV)
The only life and walk we have been called to and which pleases God is that of Faith. So it’s of uttermost importance that we hold on to Faith.
Paul tells Timothy that it’s by recalling the prophecies made about him that he can hold on to Faith. Likewise we also hold on to Faith by recalling the prophecies made about us. The most fundamental and vital prophecies made about our life are the written Word of God.
Peter refers to the Written Word as – the more sure Word of prophecy 2 Peter 1:19(KJV), and prophecy of Scripture 2 Peter 1:20.
Hold on to Faith by holding on to the Word of God.
Keep what God says about you and your circumstances right before your eyes. In the midst of challenge or crisis focus on the “it is written”. The Word of God is the source of Faith Romans 10:17 which Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.1John5:4.
