Timothy, my child, I entrust to you this command, which is in accordance with the words of prophecy spoken in the past about you. Use those words as weapons in order to fight well, and keep your faith and a clear conscience. Some people have not listened to their conscience and have made a ruin of their faith. 1 Timothy 1:18-19 (GNT)
The only good fight we are to be engaged in is to live and walk by Faith. It’s a fight because the senses which are the number one opponent of Faith are constantly opposing what Faith says and sees. 2 Corinthians5:7.
One of the tools that help us a lot in our Faith life and walk is keeping a clear conscience. The conscience is the awareness within a person of what is right and wrong, and the prompting to do the former and avoid the latter.
Keeping a clear conscience means yielding to and acting on what you’re aware of within you. If you know well within you that something is right go ahead and do it but if you know within you that you know that you know that what you’re about to do is wrong stop, don’t do it.
When we compromise our conscience by going against what we know on the inside we shipwreck or ruin our faith.
Supposing you’re praying and believing God for a financial breakthrough but you know within you that you’re mishandling your finances, you’re in a lifestyle of overspending, wasting and unnecessary debt yet you’re not willing and ready to change. Believing or faith here won’t work because you’re violating the principles of Faith.
