It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23(AMPC)
When you are touched and feel what another person is experiencing and are moved to do something about it so as to help that’s mercy, that’s compassion. God is like that towards us all the time!
Isaiah 63:9 says in all our afflictions God is also afflicted. Let’s look at the entire verse from two Bible versions:
In all their suffering He also suffered, and He personally rescued them. In His love and mercy He redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them through all the years. Isaiah 63:9 (NLT)
In all their troubles, He was troubled, too. He didn’t send someone else to help them. He did it Himself, in person. Out of His own love and pity He redeemed them. He rescued them and carried them along for a long, long time. Isaiah 63:9 (MSG)
His mercies for us are new every morning! Each day every day He is touched and feels what we go through and is deeply moved to help us!
Our concerns are His concerns. In His earthly ministry Jesus went about doing good healing all those who were oppressed by the devil. He healed out of compassion or mercy, He was touched and felt what they felt. God’s ultimate show of mercy to us was realized when personally present in His Son Jesus Christ He shared in our flesh and blood, became human like us, went through our human experience, suffered our suffering, died our death and rose as us.
Today we are encouraged to boldly approach the throne of God’s Grace where we can obtain Mercy and find Grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16.
There are new mercies for each new day, new mercies for each situation and challenge. Today, begin to thank God for His mercies!
