Abraham couldn’t count the number of the stars in the sky – Genesis 15:5-6. Neither can we today. With the advanced technology we have today it’s estimated that in the observable universe there are trillions of galaxies with each galaxy containing hundreds of billions of stars. But God knows and calls each one by name. Now this same God knows you and calls you by name – Isaiah 43:1. The implication here is more than calling or referring to you by your name. God calls you by your name means you are His and He knows you personally, intimately. It means He takes a personal interest in every detail of your life. You’re not insignificant, you’re not a statistic just adding up to the population. He’s the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to seek you the one, making sure you’re safe and sound on His shoulders – Luke 15:4-7. God counts you means you count to God. You’re His closest, most treasured, most shining star. God knows and calls you His beloved son and daughter. You’re His redeemed one, the one in whom He’s well pleased. God wants you to shine as His star, radiating His love, life, and light in the world.
