You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to honor and glory. Psalms 73:24 (AMPC)
The Lord so much desires our wellbeing and good success in everything. He has purposed to help us and guide us in all the affairs of life.
The Lord guides us with His Counsel as the Scripture has said. Following the Counsel of the Lord ends in honor and glory for us. It’s right and in order to pray, commit your way to the Lord, roll your burdens and cast your cares on Him. Yet for many of us that’s where we stop. We need to understand that when we talk to the Lord about anything, He hears and answers us. He tells us what to do and how to deal wisely with any issue.
It’s only when we listen to, pay attention to what He says, and act on it that we can actually take advantage of the Lord’s help in all situations. This is what following God’s Counsel is all about. The two places where godly counsel is found are:
His Word and our heart.
Psalms 107:11 (AMPC) Because they rebelled against the words of God, And despised the counsel of the Most High.
The Word of God is His Counsel. So that’s the first place to find godly counsel.
The Word of God is the foremost and ultimate source of what God has to say about anything and everything. Follow the Word and you’ll be following the counsel of the Lord.
Proverbs 20:5 (NKJV) Counsel in the heart of man [is like] deep water, But a man of understanding will draw it out.
Because the Holy Spirit the counselor dwells in your heart, the counsel of the Lord is in your heart. God speaks and guides you by His Spirit who lives and is joined with your spirit.
Galatians 4:6(AMPC) And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”
Romans 8:16 (AMPC) The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
Follow your heart for the counsel of the Lord is there. Use your head but unanimously follow the umpire of your heart.
