And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2(NKJV)
There are two systems or kingdoms of operation or doing things in life and these two systems or kingdoms are opposed to one another.
There’s the system or kingdom of the world and the system or kingdom of God. By world here we do not mean the physical, geographical world of people animals, plants and the rest of material things.
World here means the mindset, the way of thinking and doing things that’s negative and evil. This way of thinking and doing things is ungodly, it contradicts God. It is this mindset that’s dominating and driving the physical, social, political, intellectual, economic, religious systems that are on earth.
This system is headed by the devil and it came into this world or earth when Adam sinned by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
It is described in scripture as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. It is not of the Father but is of the world.1 John 2:16
The NLT translation of the Bible calls it a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.
Here’s another description of the world from the Message Bible – Practically everything that goes on in the world – wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important – has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. 1John 2; 16.
There’s one way to avoid conforming to the world and that’s by choosing to think in line with God’s mindset or thoughts. The Word of God is his mindset or thoughts. By filling our mind with the Word of God we are being conformed to his thoughts or ways.
The mind of the world says grab and grab some more then guard what you’ve grabbed that’s the way to survive. The mind of the Word, the mind of God says give and it will come back to you, good measure pressed down shaken together and running over shall be put into your bosom. Luke 6:38
