but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 2 Timothy 1:10 (NIV)
Many people think, believe, act and live like death is the end, the final, the conclusion of everything on earth. That’s totally not true.
The truth is death has an expiry date and it has already passed.
The Author of Life Jesus Christ has outlawed and abolished death once and for all when He died and rose from the grave.
You see death is separation from God who is Life, and who is the Source of Life. At one time we were all alienated from Him in our sins, slain or killed by our wrongdoings but God in His Mercy made us alive together with Christ in His death and resurrection. Through Faith in Jesus and what He did on the Cross we have passed from death to Life.
Now you might ask, but what about physical death? Non-believers and Believers alike die and have died. Not so? According to the Word of God which is the Truth in John 17:17, physical death is simply putting off this earthly tent or suit called your body. 2 Peter 1:13-14 (AMPC).
The real you, the spirit man goes on to be with the Lord in heaven while the body that God made out of dirt returns to dirt. But when Jesus comes back to earth the body will be raised from the dirt albeit transformed into a glorified eternal one to be forever reunited with your spirit.
So for the one who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ who died and rose, death is a defeated foe. While we are still here in this physical body on earth, we live for the Lord, when we leave this physical existence on earth we go on to live forever with the Lord, the ever living One!
