I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life. John 5:24 (AMPC)
When we heard and believed the Gospel, the Good News that brings Salvation we got much more than looking forward to going to heaven. The Salvation package includes a place in heaven but on top of that there’s in it a passing from death to life. Actually, Salvation is receiving eternal life which is the life of God. (John 3:16).
We have passed from death to life, every one of us who has believed on Jesus Christ the Son of the living God. Death is that state of separation from God which came as a result of Adam’s sin. (Romans 5:12). Separation from God or death is separation from life, health, love, peace, strength, joy, rest and every good thing that has God as it’s source. Everything evil is found in that expression death. Fear, worry, confusion, the curse, sickness, poverty, failure, hatred are all part of death. When Adam sinned by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which tree God had told him not to eat from, he died just as God had warned him that it would happen. He was separated, disconnected from God. What happened to Adam happened to all humanity because we were all in him. Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. (Romans 5:12)
But thank God for the last Adam our Lord Jesus Christ. Unlike the first Adam who disobeyed making all of us sinners and therefore slaves to death, through Jesus’ obedience we have been made righteous and therefore heirs of eternal life. (Romans 5:19).
In Adam we were plunged into death, in Christ we have passed into life. Life is union or oneness with God. (John 17:3). Life is being connected with God through his Son Jesus Christ. Everything good is found in that expression life.
We connect with God through hearing the Word of Jesus and believing Him (the Father) who sent Him.
