Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37 (NKJV)
A conqueror is a winner, a victor, one who overcomes and subdues an adversary.
This is who we are more than. We are more than a winner, a victor, an overcomer through Christ who loved us. The key word here is “through” It is through Him that loved us that we are more than conquerors. It is not because we’ve struggled, fought, laid our own strategies, come up with certain plans, assembled certain weapons that we overcome. It is through, by means of Him who loved us that we are more than conquerors. Through Him implies union with him, oneness with Him. God the Father united us, made us one with His Son Jesus Christ. 1Corinthians1:30. We are in Christ. He’s the Vine we are the branches. John 15:5.
When He conquered sin, satan, death, hell, the grave, we conquered with and in him. We are identified with him in everything he is and did. We are more than conquerors over sin, satan, death, sickness, curse, poverty. It is because we are in Christ that we are victorious, triumphant, overcomers. Seeing ourselves in him, meditating on it, saying it, and acting like it’s the truth is how we live and move in life as more than conquerors.
