Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. Psalms 37:16-17 (NIV)
The righteous are those who are one with God in thought and purpose. Their life, what they do, how they get and use what they have, always glorifies God.The little the righteous have doesn’t mean poverty, lack, or not enough, but the quality of life that’s free from the excessiveness, indiscipline, and wastefulness of the world. The people of the world who are not in relationship with God only pursue excesses of material things and emotional fixes but end up wasting, being wasted, unfulfilled, and destroyed. To the ungodly who seek quantity or more things, more pleasure and fame, the life of the righteous looks restricted, boring, and unpopular. But this kind of life is full of real lasting peace and rest from within, true joy that is not affected by what’s going on outside, confident assurance that cannot be moved by any earthly happening, and genuine eternal fulfillment.
