Your righteousness [is] like the great mountains; Your judgments [are] a great deep; O LORD, You preserve man and beast. Psalms 36:6(NKJV)
Many people react to the mention of God’s Righteousness and Holiness with a sense of unworthiness, inferiority, fear, and condemnation. The reason why people in the Old Testament especially after the giving of the law would die in God’s presence like the priests who messed up the ritual offerings in the tabernacle, or those who touched the holy things like the ark of the covenant wasn’t because God or His glory killed them for trespassing or wrong doing but rather inwardly they self-condemned themselves to death. This is true because there are several instances in the Old Testament where people after encountering the Lord or His angels would with astonishment say “Have I seen the Lord or the angel of the Lord and remained alive? Also, this is the reason why the Lord or the angel of Lord would always tell the people he appeared to that “Do not fear” In our head Scripture God’s Righteousness and Judgement are connected with preserving man and beast. Everything about God including His Righteousness, Holiness, Glory, Judgement is for and after not destroying but preserving us.
