After three days the officers went through the camp, Commanding the people: When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God being borne by the Levitical priests, set out from where you are and follow it. Yet a space must be kept between you and it, about 2,000 cubits by measure; come not near it, that you may [be able to see the ark and] know the way you must go, for you have not passed this way before. Joshua 3:2-4(NKJV)
A leader is not one who points out to others where to go or what to do and then barks at them to go and do. A leader is one who’s been there, done it and now beckons others behind to come follow him, do what they see him doing.
The Lord our God is our Leader, He’s gone ahead us, done it all before. We can with certainty trustingly follow Him.
He says we haven’t been this way before so the wise thing is to let Him lead us because He’s already been this way before. He fully perfectly knows the way.
Wherever you are in life whether as a single, married, expecting your first child, a parent of toddlers or teenagers, a grandparent, at school, looking for a job, seeking a promotion at work, starting or expanding your own business, anticipating retirement, the Lord says you haven’t been this way before so look to Him who’s been there before you, the one who’s gone ahead of you.
Some call Him the way maker who makes a way where there’s no way, much more than that He Himself is the Way because He said it Himself in John 14:6…I am the way the truth and the life. He’s already gone ahead of you and knows the entire terrain.
For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. Hebrews 4:15 (Amplified Bible)
This scripture clearly lets us know that our High Priest Jesus Christ has already experienced what we go through. He knows firsthand this journey called life in this body on this earth. We can follow Him. He faced all the same testings we face yet He did not sin. He’s not out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all but didn’t sin.
Let us look to Him today to successfully run the race of life set before us to the finish.
