Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me. Psalms 23:4 (AMPC)
God never intended for us to be alone. He says in Genesis 2:18 “It is not good for man to be alone”
One major cause of fear, worry, discouragement, giving up in life, even dying is the despair of being or feeling alone. When a person is dragged to the point of believing that they have been abandoned, left all alone by themselves there’s no longer in them the drive for life. In the jungle, predator animals use the tactic of isolating their prey from the herd making it very easy to seize it. One lion or even a number of them cannot succeed at hunting after a herd of buffaloes. They’re no match for them. So, they use the tactic of isolation. They spot one vulnerable buffalo and work at isolating it from the herd. When it is alone it is easy prey. When we think we are alone we become easy prey for anyone or anything.
But we are not alone, we are never alone. The Lord is with us always and forever. Whatever we are facing we are facing it together with and in the Lord. The reason we fear nothing, is because the Lord, the Almighty, the more than enough is with us. He strengthens us saying “fear not for I am with you”. Isaiah 41:10 and we in response encourage our selves that “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear no evil for you are with me. Psalms23:4
Jesus’ last parting exhortation to the Church when He was going back to the Father was “surely I am with you always even to the end of the age”. Matthew 28:20
