Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for [His] good pleasure. Philippians 2:12-13 (NKJV)
The Scripture doesn’t say “work your Salvation” or “work for your Salvation”. That would mean do something in your wisdom and strength to get saved. That would imply we have a part to play, contributing to what God did in saving us. But that’s no so. God totally saved us single handedly. Salvation is by God’s Grace. He did it all for us. We received a finished work of God by Faith.
Now we are to WORK OUT what God has finished and freely given to us. God worked it all in us now He asks us to work it out – to let it out. We are to live out, walk out, act out the life, the love, the light, the liberty that God worked into us.
God by His Grace has given us the free gift of Righteousness and Holiness we are now not to work hard to be or stay righteous and holy but to live, walk and act as the righteous and holy people He’s already made us to be in Christ.
We do this by knowing and being fully persuaded of what God has done in us and made us to be in Christ. Our labor is to convince our minds then our actions will effortlessly automatically follow our convictions.
