I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16(NKJV)
Walking in the spirit is not acting strange and weird. It’s not about seeing strange things, and hearing strange voices. It’s not about moving about and carrying yourself in a certain saintly way with hands put together like you’re praying, in that mood of “shhhhh.. every one quiet. I’m in the spirit! “
Walking in the spirit is very normal. It’s so normal that because many believers are looking for complicated things, they think it’s hard or impossible to walk in the spirit.
The best example of one walking in the spirit is Jesus and He lived the most normal human life. There was nothing strange and weird about Jesus yet He walked in the spirit all the time. Every one including children, prostitutes, tax collectors, were comfortable and free in Jesus’ presence. The only ones who were uncomfortable with Jesus were the religious self-righteous people.
To walk in the spirit is to be led by the Spirit. Galatians 5:18(NKJV) But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Firstly, to be led by the spirit is to live according to the Word of God because the Word of God is spirit and life- see John 6:63.
When the Word of God tells you that fear not, I am with you and you respond positively to that truth – you continue to hear it, say it, meditate on it, act in line with it, you are walking in the spirit, you’re yielding to the life of God in you.
Secondly to be led by the spirit is to follow the inward witness in our spirit or heart.
The Spirit of God dwells in our heart or spirit. Galatians 4:6(AMPC) And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the [Holy] Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, Abba (Father)! Father!
Therefore, it’s from within our heart or spirit that the Holy Spirit speaks to us and leads us. One of the most profitable practices we should engage ourselves in is paying attention to, listening to, and following our heart.
The number one way the Holy Spirit leads us in our heart is by the inward witness.
Romans 8:16 (NKJV)The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
The inward witness is a knowing, a prompting in our spirit. It cannot be reasoned, or explained. You just know from within that someone or something is right or wrong.
Learn to follow that release or check in your heart in every decision of life and you will have good success, avoid scams, find yourself in the right place at the right time, make profitable deals and escape evil schemes.
