Psalms 34:10 (NKJV) The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good [thing.]
We do not seek the Lord because He’s gone and not with us for Jesus is Immanuel – God with us. Neither do we seek the Lord because sometimes He leaves us and then we have to get Him come back because He told us He will neither leave us nor forsake us. Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV) Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Seeking the Lord means setting our hearts and minds on Him. It means finding out His thoughts and ways. Because whosoever seeks finds. It means finding out and following His ways.
To seek God is to have Him in our thoughts. Psalms 10:4 (NKJV) The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek [God;] God [is] in none of his thoughts.
Make room for God in your thoughts, plans or pursuits.
In whatever you intend to do in word or action the most important thing to ask and know is what the Lord has to say about that matter.
When God occupies and influences our hearts, minds, thoughts, actions then that means fullness and abundance of good is occupying and influencing us. So there’s no lack, no want. When the Word says the Lord is my Shepherd I shall not lack, the implication is the Lord has taken over my upkeep. He has the run of the house. He’s my sole caregiver.
When we immerse our minds in such sublime holy throne room thoughts we are seeking the Lord. We are setting our affections on Him. There can’t be hunger or thirst here.
John 6:35 (AMPC) Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time).
In this world hunger and thirst are not just for food and water but for every necessary and beneficial thing. There’s hunger and thirst for life itself, for peace, wisdom, security, relationships, strength, and various other resources.
When we seek or set our hearts and minds on the Lord we won’t lack any of these things.
