Usually a shield is for protection, but here in this scripture the Lord is a shield around us not for protection but for influence and honor. For the next line says; “you are my glory, the one who holds my head high”.The Lord is our influence and honor.The Lord’s presence in our life is what causes life to yield to us. It’s the Lord who attracts the right and beneficial people, resources, and connections to us. It’s the Lord who causes all things and situations to work out together for our good.Know and rely on the Lord as your shield to get you above and ahead in life.
