God commanded the Israelites to tell their children His words, works, and wonders that He did for them – Psalm 78:5.Even today God charges us to share our faith and knowledge of Him with our children for the same reasons as for the Israelites. These reasons are:So that they (children) may pass them on to the next generation – Psalm 78:6 So that they may not forget them, but keep them – Psalm 78:7 So that they may not be rebellious, stubborn and unfaithful to God – Psalm 78:8 So that they remember that God is their rock, and the Most High God their Redeemer – Psalms 78:35.
