Proverbs 3:11-12 (NLT) My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.
The Lord loves us and wants the best for us. In order to see, know, walk, and live in God’s best our minds and actions have to be in tune with God’s thoughts. Because until we see, know and walk as God does we can’t live and enjoy the fulfilled kind of Life He lives and enjoys.
This is where the chastening or discipline of the Lord comes in. He disciplines us getting every other way of wrong thinking and acting out of us replacing it with His Way of thinking and acting so we may live like Him. Now it is inconvenient, uncomfortable and painful just like turning and walking away from a place, a condition, a state you’ve known, grown used to and comfortable with. It’s like that painful feeling of a thousand pins pricking you when you move a part of your body that’s been in a certain position for some time.
You were used to “a tooth for a tooth” an eye for an eye” but now He says forgive, pray for and do good to the one who wrongs you. It is hard and painful but it’s a discipline out of love so you may share in God’s own life.
