So he answered and said to me: ” This [is] the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘ Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts. Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV)
The power referred to here is human strength and resources.
It’s not by human strength and resources that we become, do, and have what’s real, lasting, and truly fulfilling.
We were saved and continue saved not by anything we did either with our head or with our hand. We were saved and continue saved not by what we avoided doing either in action or thought.
We were saved and continue saved forever by God’s saving Power in Christ Jesus through His own Sacrifice on the Cross.
We were forgiven not because we acknowledged our sin, sorrowed for it, suffered for it, were punished for it, turned away from it and promised to not do it again.
We can acknowledge our sin alright, we can sorrow for our sin because sin brings sorrow, and we suffer when we sin because sin brings suffering and nothing wrong with promising not to sin again though many have broken that promise over and over again. But there’s no power in all these things that can set one free from sin.
We were forgiven of all our sins through the Redemption that’s in Christ’s own Blood. The only power that frees us from sin and its consequences is God’s Power in the Blood of Jesus Christ.
It’s not by natural human power but by God’s Spirit who represents His strength and resources.
Therefore do not look to, neither rely on what you can do in order to be, do or have what God desires for you.
Look to, rely on and take advantage of God’s strength and resources in Christ in order to experience His best life, way and success.
