For we must all appear and be revealed as we are before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive [his pay] according to what he has done in the body, whether good or evil [considering what his purpose and motive have been, and what he has achieved, been busy with, and given himself and his attention to accomplishing]. 2 Corinthians 5:10 (AMPC)
We belong to the Lord, thus being His own we are accountable to Him.
Everything we have including our very own lives is entrusted to us by the Lord to manage for Him. Therefore it is imperative that we give account of our life. We should make our existence, time, abilities, relationships, and work here on earth count.
Since we are accountable to the Lord, the first place we start on the journey of living a life that’s acceptable and profitable is in finding out what’s pleasing to Him.
2 Corinthians 5:9 (AMPC) Therefore, whether we are at home [on earth away from Him] or away from home [and with Him], we are constantly ambitious and strive earnestly to be pleasing to Him.
We make our life count, we lead a life that has meaning by engaging in pursuits that please the Lord.
It is well pleasing to God that we pray for all people for the ultimate purpose that they get saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:3-4 (AMPC) For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior, Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly] to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth.
Regardless of how long, healthy, and wealthy you live, how much you do and achieve, if you haven’t come to the saving and liberating knowledge of the truth of Jesus Christ the Son of the living God, you have nothing to show at the end of your life. Everything you sweated, struggled, and sacrificed to accumulate is all waste. This is because all things are held together and find their true meaning in Christ. Colossians 1:17 (GNT) Christ existed before all things, and in union with him all things have their proper place.
Life, love, family, relationships, work, achievements all have their proper meaningful place in Christ.
A life lived for Christ, love shared in Christ, family and relationships built and established in Christ, work and achievements that are Christ centered – this is what being accountable to the Lord is all about.
Practically this is accomplished by knowing that since Jesus is Lord in our life He has a say so in everything we are involved in therefore we always refer to Him in whatever we do. We submit our all to Him, we seek His counsel and direction in all our decisions and we do everything to glorify Him.
