But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (NIV)
The God kind of love is unconditional. This love goes all the way in fully offering itself without considering circumstances, conditions, or challenges.
When God loved us He took the high road where there’s no looking back, no turning back, no exit. He put Himself on the line for us.
There are no ifs, no buts in this love that God has lavished upon us.
He doesn’t love us only if we are good and do good. He doesn’t withdraw His love if we disappoint or disobey Him.
He doesn’t say I love you but when you reject my love I’m done with you. He doesn’t say I’ll love you but when you don’t reciprocate that’s it, I’m off.
He loved us while we were still unlovable and loveless.
He loved us while still in our sin and shame. He loved us while still in our enmity towards Him.
This very same love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. See-Romans 5:5.
We can love with and are instructed to walk in this divine love. Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV) Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
We are commanded to love one another just as our Lord Jesus Christ loved us, with this self-sacrificial, no loopholes, no excuses, no way out, unfailing love.
John 13:34 (NIV) “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
We love those who don’t like us as well as those who are not like us. We love those who don’t believe in us and what we believe in. We love those we don’t believe in what they believe.
We love not because we are equally loved back, neither because we are seeking to be loved back by those we love. We love not because God may love or continue to love us.
We love because God first loved us. See- 1John 4:19.
This God kind of love that is now in our hearts, bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. 1 Corinthians 13:7 (AMPC)
