Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here’s what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It’s the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. James 3:13 (MSG)
Looking at verses 14 to 16 we get to understand what live well, live wisely, and live humbly means: Do not be mean-spirited. That is; do not be inconsiderate of others, do not exploit or manipulate people to advance or achieve in life. Wisdom considers and prioritizes the welfare of others because we are of equal worth and we need each other.
Do not be so full of yourself that there’s no place for input from others. Know that you have gaps where only others from outside can fill in.
Do not falsify facts, distort details, or twist the truth to get your way and gain the advantage over others. The world calls it being shrewd, but it’s demonic, it’s destructive. It’s not wisdom.
Being and doing your best isn’t about being better than everyone else. It’s being and doing all that you’re built and equipped for.
Winning in life isn’t about being above and over everyone else in your performance and achievements. It’s fully realizing what’s invested in you and fully living it all out.
