He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. Psalms 23:2 (AMPC)
The place of rest is the Lord Himself. It is the Lord Himself who makes us lie down, it is the Lord Himself who leads us. This means the Lord Himself, personally present, and involved in our life, affairs, and situation is what gives us rest. The Scripture hasn’t said that the Lord sends an angel, human being, or something to cause us to rest. The Lord Himself makes us rest. God told Moses “My presence will go with you and I will give you rest” Exodus 33:14Rest is the result of a person to person communion with the Lord.It is in this place of knowing and assurance that God is our all, that in Him we live, that He cares and watches over us that we rest. It is in this place of confidence that God is our enablement that we walk and operate in rest. This is the place we should live from.
