Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:] Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, Philippians 2:5-6 (AMPC)
If humility is the attitude that God defines, and defends me in, then I don’t have to insist on my own right and way in my own striving. I’m not affected or influenced by the praise or censor of men. I already know and I’m established in who I am in my heavenly Father’s heart and mind. This is the attitude Christ lived with and functioned in. He let the Father define and defend Him right to that shameful suffering and death on the Cross. He never sought or responded to men’s praise. He never felt less or insignificant because men treated him so. Neither did He treat others as less or insignificant.
When we have and act with this attitude then we always end up in the God altitude – raised, lifted up, honored, glorified.
