So I remained utterly silent, not even saying anything good. But my anguish increased; Psalms 39:2 (NIV)
There’s no neutral ground, there’s either good triumphing, or evil turned lose. Some people think and decide that since talking can get you into trouble they will not say anything at all whether good or bad. The writer of our theme verse did exactly that – remained utterly silent, not saying even any good thing, but his suffering increased! When we don’t plant good crops the ground won’t lie alone – weeds and thorns will grow. You don’t avoid or keep away what you don’t like by doing or saying nothing. You refuse and resist evil by releasing good. Saying something good is one way to do this. Say what’s right; speak forgiveness, life, peace, hope, encouragement, reconciliation, healing, restoration. Say something good and you will see something good.
