Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]. Hebrews 4:16 (AMPC)
The fear of the Lord as it is referred to in Scripture has been wrongly interpreted by many to mean being afraid of God in such a way that people have a sense of unworthiness, inferiority, condemnation before Him. Many see God as mad at them, out to get, judge, sentence, punish, and destroy them.
But that’s all wrong and grieves the Loving Father heart of God.
We ought not to be running away from God like Adam and Eve reacted to God after the fall. In Christ Jesus we have been made right with God through the Cross.
We can now boldly draw confidently to the Throne of God. We can relate, fellowship, worship and serve God with a sense of belonging, being loved accepted and valued. We can pray bold Faith filled prayers; we can live fearlessly in the world because of this Throne attitude and confidence.
