Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Psalms 37:4 (NLT)
To take delight in the Lord means the Lord Himself is your delight. It means the Lord Himself is your confidence, rest, joy, assurance, and satisfaction. The truth is, our real core necessary needs, wants, or desires aren’t “things” but the Lord Himself. What we deep down, long-term, actually really need, want or desire is the Lord. So, on a deeper level the Lord doesn’t just give us life, peace, strength, help, and success, but the Lord Himself is actually these things to us. He is our life, peace, strength, help, and success. Therefore, to delight in the Lord begins with the knowledge and acknowledgement that the Lord is all these things you need, want and desire. Just as people delight in riches, power and fame because that’s what they think and know answers their needs wants and desires.Know and acknowledge the Lord as your everything, then you’ll find confidence and rest in Him, then you will see and experience all these wonderful things that only come from Him – the life, peace, rest, joy, satisfaction. Then you will see and experience all your wildest dreams and desires unfolding.
