As surely as God is faithful, our word to you does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” 2 Corinthians 1:18 (NLT)
God is faithful means He can be depended upon because He sticks to His Word. As His children we have His nature and character, we possess His attributes. Faithfulness is an ingredient of the fruit of the spirit in us. Galatians 5:22, 23.
We are called saints and faithful brethren. Ephesians 1:1; Colossians 1:1.
As God’s righteous ones we have on the inside of us the ability to decide on an issue and stick with it through thick and thin, even when it costs us.
Our decisiveness is powered by the assurance that God is faithful. This means that when we decide to do something, when we choose to stick with what’s right and true God can be depended upon to help and successfully see us through.
Paul has said in the theme Scripture that his word or decision doesn’t waver between yes and no. He does not say yes now and the next moment changes to no. He does not say I’m in if it’s fair weather but when the going gets tough say I want out. He goes the whole nine yards.
This resoluteness in Paul is produced by the assurance of God’s faithfulness for he says that as surely as God is faithful our word to you does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” Be a man or woman of your word; follow through with what you start on knowing and confident that God is faithful to back you up all through.
But God will never back or support what’s evil or dishonest therefore we shouldn’t decide on anything that’s ungodly or dishonest because no matter how determined we are in carrying it out it will never stand.
It is only the counsel of the Lord that stands to the end. Psalms 33:11(NKJV) The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations.
Therefore always decide according to godly counsel and stick with it for your plans shall stand to the last.
