Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. John 12:24 (NKJV)
Convenience can be an obstacle to contentment. A seed by itself has it all together, undisturbed in a comfortable existence. But when it falls into the ground it breaks and dies under the pressure of the cold and heat of the earth. Yet that’s how it lives again, not as it used to, but in a higher quality and quantity of its kind. Keeping yourself and what you have to yourself is so convenient but it’s missing out on the real pleasure and satisfaction that’s only possible and experienced in releasing – John12:25.
When you let go of self-preservation, invest yourself and what you have in what’s above and beyond you then you yield a harvest of a more efficient and productive you. In this way you honor God, bless others, and yourself. Now this is true contentment.
